Department History ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ

Date of Establishment of the Department. 1974

The Department of Geography at the Punjabi University , Patiala was established in the Faculty of Sciences in 1974. The beginning was made with only three teachers, two readers and one lecturer, in position. Though quite a late starter, the Department has made notable contribution to teaching and research in geography during this short period.

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੂਗੋਲ ਵਿਭਾਗ 1974 ਵਿਚ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਆਰੰਭ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤਿੰਨ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਰੀਡਰ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਲੈਕਚਰਾਰ ਸਨ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੇਰ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਇਆ, ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਅਤੇ ਭੂਗੋਲ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਘਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ।
